UNICEF Syria Crisis – Humanitarian Situation Report (January – June 2022) – Syrian Arab Republic

  • In Turkey, in 2022, a total of 19,428 children and 2,773 caregivers benefited from structured and supported mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services supported by UNICEF,

  • In Lebanon, UNICEF maintained water and sanitation services for 321,980 refugees living in informal settlements across the country. UNICEF is also working on a comprehensive water and sanitation action plan implementation plan to reduce water trucking and emptying activities.

  • In Jordan, UNICEF and partners rolled out awareness-raising activities on child marriage, child labour, online violence, bullying and children’s rights in the refugee camps of Azraq and Za’atari, reaching 4,591 children and caregivers.

  • In Iraq, to ​​address the underlying social norms that perpetuate violence against children, UNICEF-supported parent education programs reached 695 parents and guardians (354 women), while awareness raising reached a total of 21,540 people (12,062 women).

  • In Egypt, UNICEF delivered two rounds of training for social workers on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for children on the move and its orientation pathway, targeting more than 70 participants from local NGOs in Upper Egypt and across the northern coast.
