DAMASCUS ($1 = 2,512.52 Syrian pounds) — A failed attempt to blow up a US convoy of armored vehicles was carried out in Syria. This is reported by Russian media, citing the main source – AviaPro’s Telegram channel. The convoy consisted of six vehicles.
The destruction attempt failed. The explosion detonated 15 meters from the convoy. Only the car in the lead column was shot down. No American soldier was injured. Experts on the ground suggest it is an improvised explosive device. According to preliminary data, the explosion occurred in advance due to an error, since the explosive device was detonated artificially. Damage to the lead car is not critical.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility. Analysts suggest that the perpetrators could turn out to be Kurdish formations. These groups oppose the American presence in Syria.
The civil war in Syria
The Syrian civil war has been going on for almost a decade. Attempts by movements such as the Syrian Democratic Forces to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad have failed.
The Syrian Democratic Forces are armed by allies and the United States, while the Syrian Army is armed primarily by Russia. Russia is the only country officially invited to Syria by President Bashar al-Assad.
In 2017, the United States launched a massive missile strike on Bashar al-Assad’s forces after a report emerged that the Syrian president had used chemical weapons to attack his people in the country. Syria and Russia deny such actions.
During his term, US President Donald Trump decided to withdraw a large part of US troops from Syria, leaving several soldiers to guard Syrian oil fields under the pretext of “falling into the hands of the Islamic State”.

With the withdrawal of the United States, Turkey comes to the fore, declaring the need to deal with the Kurds and the PKK movement in the northern part of the country, which borders Turkey. This is why Erdogan is sending troops to try to build a stable and secure 30 km zone between Syria and Turkey, which will prevent future terrorist attacks on Turkish territory, as it is.
